Author: Marissa Meyer
Released February 2, 2016
Bought Hardcover from Amazon

The enchantment continues....

The universe of the Lunar Chronicles holds stories—and secrets—that are wondrous, vicious, and romantic. How did Cinder first arrive in New Beijing? How did the brooding soldier Wolf transform from young man to killer? When did Princess Winter and the palace guard Jacin realize their destinies?

With nine stories—five of which have never before been published—and an exclusive never-before-seen excerpt from Marissa Meyer’s upcoming novel, Heartless, about the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, Stars Above is essential for fans of the bestselling and beloved Lunar Chronicles.

The Little Android: A retelling of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid,” set in the world of The Lunar Chronicles.
Glitches: In this prequel to Cinder, we see the results of the plague play out, and the emotional toll it takes on Cinder. Something that may, or may not, be a glitch….
The Queen’s Army: In this prequel to Scarlet, we’re introduced to the army Queen Levana is building, and one soldier in particular who will do anything to keep from becoming the monster they want him to be.
Carswell’s Guide to Being Lucky: Thirteen-year-old Carswell Thorne has big plans involving a Rampion spaceship and a no-return trip out of Los Angeles.
The Keeper: A prequel to the Lunar Chronicles, showing a young Scarlet and how Princess Selene came into the care of Michelle Benoit.
After Sunshine Passes By: In this prequel to Cress, we see how a nine-year-old Cress ended up alone on a satellite, spying on Earth for Luna.
The Princess and the Guard: In this prequel to Winter, we see a game called The Princess
The Mechanic: In this prequel to Cinder, we see Kai and Cinder’s first meeting from Kai’s perspective.
Something Old, Something New: In this epilogue to Winter, friends gather for the wedding of the century...(Summary from Goodreads)

This review is going to be more general because I don't want to spoil anything for fellow Lunar Chronicles fans!

So a couple months ago I was scared to finish Winter because it would mean the end of these AMAZING characters that I hold so dear.  I knew about the short stories, but I wasn't really planning on reading them...until I found out that they were all going to be in one book, Stars Above!  Not only that, but it included a freaking epilogue! AN EPILOGUE GUYS!!!

I'll give you guys a little review for each short story:

The Little Android - This was really the only one I didn't care for as much, simply because it was focused on new characters and not my babies.  Mech6.0 is an android...that starts to develop feelings for a human! I could definitely see the parallels between this and The Little Mermaid. Cinder does make a little cameo appearance, which was really nice!!

Glitches - This one follows Cinder as she arrives to her new adoptive family, up until Linh Garan gets the Blue Plague and is taken away.  I liked that we get to know a little more about Garan, since he died before Cinder and we never got to meet his character.

The Queen's Army - This one follows Wolf from the time he was enlisted in the army to when he became alpha of the pack. Marissa Meyer definitely picks the most interesting times in the characters' lives to write short stories about.

Carswell's Guide to Being Lucky - Precious baby I love Thorne so much!! If you remember, Cress had once brought up Carswell's "heroic deeds" of his past when she was trying to prove that Thorne is a good person, one of which was when he got into a fight to help a girl.  This short story is about that, and it's really cute to read about a young Thorne with entrepreneurial spirit.

The Keeper - This was another one that I really enjoyed because we got to learn more about Scarlet's grandmother, Michelle Benoit, as well as how Cinder got to Earth.

After Sunshine Passes By - Another interesting moment in a character's life, this one follows Cress when she is taken out of her shell camp and brought to the satellite. She's such a sweet cinnamon roll - I felt so bad for her!

The Princess and the Guard - It was adorable to see Winter and Jacin when they were kids! But this was also sad, because we see how Winter got the scars on her face, why Jacin wasn't able to become a doctor like he dreamed of, and why Winter decided to not use her lunar gift anymore.

The Mechanic - FREAKIN ADORABLE!! This is when Cinder and Kai meet, but from Kai's POV!!!!

Something Old, Something New - ALL THE FEELS!! ALL MY FEELS WENT TO THIS ONE!! This is an epilogue after all the events in Winter...and there's a wedding and it was PERFECT because all characters were just being themselves and I loved every moment of it!!! AND A PROPOSAL TOO!!

I'm so sorry for all the capslock - I must express my love for this series. Anywho, I think I have become a lifelong fan of Marissa Meyer, and I will probably read anything she writes! Speaking of which, Heartless is a stand-alone book following the Queen of Hearts before she became evil, and it comes out in November! There's so much to be excited for, which helps relieve the hole in my heart after finishing this series - a little bit.
